What Autumn Teaches Us About Change

Learning how release can become renewal Read time 2 minutes.

Dear Reader,

This week, I want to share with you a Golden Pearl that has transformed how I live: the art of letting go.

As autumn unfolds, the world outside reminds us what it means to release. Trees don’t cling to their leaves; they trust that by letting go, they’re preparing for something new.

I used to believe that strength meant holding on — to goals, to people, to routines — long after they stopped serving me. But over time, I learned that real strength is knowing when to open your hand.

In 2003, when I was told I had six months to live, I faced the greatest letting go of all — the future I thought I’d have. But what happened next changed me: by releasing my grip on fear, I discovered purpose, presence, and a new way to live.

That experience taught me this truth:

Letting go is not giving up. It’s making space for what’s meant to grow next.

This week, I invite you to reflect on where you might be holding on too tightly. Is it an old goal that no longer excites you? A story you’ve told yourself about who you should be? A resentment that weighs heavy?

Write it down. Name it. And gently ask: What would happen if I set this down?

What is one thing - big or small - that you’re ready to release this season?
What space might that create in your life?

We’ll explore more next week!
Until then, may this week bring you clarity, and peace in the art of letting go.
